I can see why you'd think that though. Not to say that "black people sound one way and white people sound another" but it does seem like there are certain vocal flairs are found more often in one race or another.

That, certainly! And a lot of Land of Dreams actually references the racial segregation he saw as a child in New Orleans, which I honestly just hadn't heard white people talk about very much; I'd always heard it from the perspective of the segregated.
