Oh god, I laughed so hard I scared my cat.

In my case, I grew up listening to him (Land of Dreams is actually a pretty solid album), and my huge revelation was that he was white. I honestly thought he was black, for the longest time. My dad was in stitches when he saw how confused I was when I actually laid eyes on the guy.

I can see why you'd think that though. Not to say that "black people sound one way and white people sound another" but it does seem like there are certain vocal flairs are found more often in one race or another.

That, certainly! And a lot of Land of Dreams actually references the racial segregation he saw as a child in New Orleans, which I honestly just hadn't heard white people talk about very much; I'd always heard it from the perspective of the segregated.

I also thought he was Black for a very long time. It probably had to do with the fact I really had only heard his music in Pixar movies and never really looked into him as a person outside of that.

It's definitely hard to get an accurate idea of what someone looks like based on their voice, haha. Same reason a lot of people thought Rick Astley was black before he got into music videos, probably.
