Question, OP!

(Anonymous) 2017-05-26 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
Well, you can't help the way you feel, OP. Just curious, are there any particular musicians/celebrities that you think you would be upset of the deaths of? Is it just that you didn't feel any particular connection with these examples?

My dad is a massive Bowie fan and we bonded over his music, so we both shed a few tears over it. Same for Prince. I think dad still has some old camcorder footage of me dancing(?) to Partyman when I was 2, lol. My brother on the other hand is a lot like you; he just doesn't get emotionally attached to celebrities like a lot of people do. Different strokes. Not everyone will feel the death of a celebrity so personally, and that's normal, I just hope that even the people who don't can respect that their work played a huge part in the lives of others.

Of course they can, they're not stupid. Not liking the undercurrent here ("I just hope..even the people who don't") that not getting upset=being uncaring, unempathetic and dismissive.

Uh, thanks for replying on the OP's behalf I guess? I wasn't trying to imply that at all, so calm down. There have already been people in this thread basically saying that getting upset at all over a celebrity death is "disrespectful" and "embarrassing," so it's not such a far out concept. I apologize for whatever "undercurrent" you perceived in my comment that wasn't meant to be there. :/
