The Alamo. I was hoping for at least a bit of its history outside that one battle (a battle that is not particularly heroic and only happened because people didn't listen to advice and stayed in an unstrategic place). I'm more interested in its history as a Spanish Mission. But no, it is that one battle and only that battle. Plus, it is just very touristy.

Dubrovnik. I was hoping for history in Diocletian's palace, but instead it is just shops inside. I'm honestly not sure how GOT even films there because it is such a complete tourist trap completely full of modern things.

Hey you can't go telling people about the secret basement at the Alamo. They got to sneak in at night if they want to see it, and dig through three feet of dirt that they covered it with.

God, the Alamo was a field trip I had to go on so often as a Texas Youth, and it was always boring.

It is. I've been twice since we moved to San Antonio. Once with family and once with some visitors. I've managed to opt out of every other trip with guests because while I generally love historical stuff, that particular site holds no interest for me.
