Ephebophile.

Basically used by pedophiles or pedophile apologists who just want to try and squirm out of the pedophile label by trying to invoke a technicality.

Except there is a huge difference? I mean, one literally means pre-pubescent and one is teens? A 50 year old liking 17 year olds is still kind of skeevy but it's not fucking paedophilia and it's disingenuous to call it that.

lmao you are absolutely the kind of garbage person that calls people who ship things with like a two year age difference "pedophiles" if one of those characters is even five days under 18 years old, aren't you

what? I don't think their comment indicates that they are that kind of person.

Nayrt
Nah, it really does. It's the main "argument" antis use when people tell them that no, 16 or 17 year olds being in a relationship with someone who's 18 or very slightly over isn't pedophilia, especially not by definition, and if you absolutely had to brand it with something it would be ephebophilia ... Which it also isn't, because that's a completely normal age range/difference for most people. And then you usually get people like OK who throw the "I don't care what words mean or reality looks like, you're still all pedophiles waah".

"technicality"

I don't know if I'd call the difference between a 17 year old and an 11 year old a fucking technicality.

Even child development wise they're completely different.

It's tiring to see people acting like acknowledging the difference is the same as saying one is alright. Can we just say both are bad while noting that there's a marked DIFFERENCE between mid teens and children?

Dude, I'm super skeeved out by pedophilic/hebephilic fanworks (I don't go into other people's own spaces and criticize them for it, but I will publicly, without targeting any one person specifically, state that IMO that shit's messed up) - and even I think the distinctions between pedo, hebe, and ephebo are valid and worth considering.
