Firefly

I loved Firefly, but going by the stuff Joss did to BtVS and AtS, I'm glad it got cancelled. And that's not even counting the things they apparently had planned (which wouldn't have necessarily happened anyway, I doubt every plan does).

I think Firefly could have had a decent 3-5 season run. Anything beyond that is usually when things get messy.

Sometimes it's not always even Joss himself but the fact that he runs off to do other things while a show is in it's later run. I think when Firefly was going he was putting way more energy into that then he was Buffy or Angel.

There are very very few shows I've enjoyed when they go on season after season. Less is usually more, and I prefer tip-of-the-iceberg concepts that are left to the imagination over dissecting the dead beaten horse.

That being said, Firefly was still cut prematurely. There was still lots to start exploring without it getting tired. I think it could've at least had another season. Enough to explore the characters and the antagonists a little further would've been nice.

Yeah given the concepts that did end up making an appearance in Serenity, I share this sentiment completely. It did not last long enough for Joss to ruin it.
