Fandom Secrets of the Past, Part 2

So I'm currently up to March 14, 2007 in annals of F!S, and it seems like RP-ing was super popular! Is that as common a thing? I sometimes see it on tumblr. Have any of you been RP-ing all this time? What's the longest RP you've ever done?

I RP a tiny bit. Not much because I never had time to get my Tumblr RP blog up and running. I follow a lot of TUmblr RPers, though. Mostly I just RP occasionally with a couple people and also help run a ship ask blog. One person and I have this long-running RP with my canon character (Sauron) and her OC. She's super creative and has all the overarching plotting figured out, so we just plug in wherever we're in the mood for. P

I used to be super into LJRP back in the day and sometimes I kind of miss it, though realistically I definitely do not have the time to sink into it that I used to xD Never really got into tumblr RP, the format's too hard to follow I think? Maybe I'm just old.

I still do RP now and then, though, mostly private OC stuff with friends that has pretty much just evolved into collaborative story-writing at this point. I'd love to get into tabletop RP too but finding the time and looking for a group is hard.

I've been RPing since 07, constantly. I don't think I've ever not been in a game for more than a month in all that time. I'm even going to mod my own game soon.

DWRP has definitely shrunk since then - since the great migration of all the games and RPers here to DW around 2010-11, we've all aged and slowed down and while there's an estimated 2-3K individual RPers still here, some with dozens of characters, the game scene has cooled way off in the past 3-4 years. which sucks because there isn't a better platform for RP anywhere - tumblr is shit for it and most people no longer use IM chats at all, let alone for RP.

I used to RP a lot before 2007, I was on Good To Be In DC way back when on greatestjournal, but yeah, it's not as common as it was then.

I used to RP a lot when I was younger, mainly on Gaia and other forums. Then I got busy with school and work and couldn't keep up. I have more free time now and have tried to start up again, but the RP scene feels really different now and most of my online friends have quit. I think the longest one I was in had fifty pages to it.

I desperately miss RPing. I don't have enough time anymore for an organized game, so I mostly just play with a couple of friends, but we're all into different things right now so we're not finding any common ground. Sometimes I throw out a few tags in memes on Bakerstreet, but I rarely get bites, or if I do they either peter out quickly or are just... not good.

The longest I ever did: I was in Amat Omnes back when it was on LJ; I played Judith from Tales of Vesperia, and I goddamned loved it, oh god. I had so much good CR, with so many people. I was with that game for... a little over a year, I think?

I also still have incredibly fond memories of a smaller game I was in called Nirvana, where I played a teenaged version of Nephry Osborne from Tales of the Abyss. The setting was really wonderful. I still mentally transplant characters into it as a sort of happy place to go back to.

I used to RP. But then I found that RP'ing decreased my drive to write my own fics, so I tend to stay away from it. I can't remember the longest RP I've ever done though. I never really paid attention.

I RPed once, on a book series specific website, as an original character. This was when I was...idk, in the eighth grade, probably? And it stressed me out so much, RPing with this one other person one-on-one that I eventually just never went back to that website.

But to people who enjoy it, it looks like a lot of fun, and I'm glad for them.

I RP-ed a lot when I was younger! The longest took about 2-3 years to finish over IM with my then-best friend, though we also RP-ed other stuff and with other players. I also RP-ed on forums and LJ. It petered out in college for several reasons. Plain lack of time, my friend (understandably) wanted to focus on her original work, aside and from her most of my partners were on the other side of the world. Which meant either staying up way late or get left behind.

I want to get back into it, but it's been years. I've no experience of RP-ing on tumblr. Like, I think I could get the hang of it - while the format's a bit wonky, people RP similar to what I saw on LJ or forums - but I feel clueless about how to find other RP-ers or answer questions like "how long have you RP-ed?"
