Detoxing

You seem to be under the assumption that just because some study is out there, that everyone knows about it and is willing and able to follow it with no hurdles.

(Anonymous) 2017-05-28 01:34 am (UTC)(link)Long answer: when you're too stressed to properly take care of yourself, because stress is literally unavoidable unless you're so rich that you don't have to work/have freedom to travel/can do whatever you like/etc., then the last thing you want to hear from anyone is that if you just "kept your gut flora healthy" then everything would be fine. Stress pushes people to comfort foods, which are high in sugar/excess fats. Stress pushes people to say "fuck it" and go relax on the couch instead of expending any more energy in exercise. And when you're in that position, people whining about "toxins" sounds like some ultra-pampered-yoga-pants-and-PSLs white girl bullshit.

(Anonymous) 2017-05-28 02:39 am (UTC)(link)As to why is the average american fat, unhappy, and stressed... probably a combination of many factors, including but not limited to:
* limited income
* limited time
* limited knowledge of cooking skills
* high availability of cheap processed foods and junk foods that appeal to people with little money, time and cooking know how
Nothing to do with detoxing.

(Anonymous) 2017-05-28 02:49 am (UTC)(link)As for Americans being unhealthy- I would say that is a result of our culture and not vague "toxins"

(Anonymous) 2017-05-28 03:14 am (UTC)(link)Eating healthy, avoiding excess sugars, and exercising isn't, but that's also not what "detoxing" refers to.
