132. Ew, is that William Faulkner? I did a project on As I Lay Dying recently and absolutely hated the lot of it. >:|

144. I often wonder about that myself, for a great many fandoms. It's strange when it's not mentioned (like two characters locked up together for days and no mention of anyone having to use the toilet) but kind of awkward when it is. Still, I do wonder.

156. You be what you've got to be, sunshine. If you think you would have come to the same conclusion without fandom's influence, or if you would be unhappy if that choice was taken away from you, I'd say go for it, but it's certainly not my place. We're with you! :D

172. We're in the same boat. I'm ashamed to admit it sometimes, but I really do use a walkthrough on almost any game I play. Sometimes it's really awful (printing out and pausing the game every three seconds to read what you should do next syndrome) but sometimes it's just for silly things like "What ingredients do I need for the Ultima Weapon and where do I find them?" Especially with Zelda games, I find I have no patience. I don't have fun when I'm wandering around for hours wondering what to do. It's really not about how hxc!!!!1! you are, but if you're having fun. *shrug*

From an entirely literary point of view, you should really give Faulkner a second chance. As I Lay Dying is often that one book taught in high school that sets everyone off of Faulkner. I'd had it (poorly) in 10th grade English, but now I'm just finishing up a semester with a course just in Faulkner, and it blew my mind. After I started to understand The Sound and the Fury, and especially after I survived Absalom, Absalom!, fitting things together became incredibly interesting, both within the story and within the context of writers like Fitzgerald and Hawthorne. I don't think saying that will help my point much, but because that class and author were so amazing, they're making me reconsider my major!

Seriously, seek it out in college. Missing out on his work after a bad experience in high school would suck!

I did actually have a better time with the book once a few criticisms helped me realise what it was about. I think my dislike of him stems more from the fact that the project was a huge pain, but it's not too late to try again! I'll have to read something else of his (perhaps Absalom, Absalom?) to improve my opinion.
