144. I've thought about this. I've also wondered just what the people in those games eat for meat. I mean, they don't have normal cows or chickens or anything. Do the people in the Pokemon world actually eat the Pokemon, too?

I don't see how that's more fucked up than eating animals. Because they keep pokémon as companions? So do we.

Erm...I'm sorry if I offended you, but that was meant to be more of a joke than a serious observation or commentary on the ethics of eating animals.

Oh, also, some alternate possibilities:

-Everyone is vegetarian.
-They eat laboratory meat grown from stem cells

But on the whole I don't think that's likely, given the canon evidence both in the games (Slopoke tails are a delicacy in G/S/C*, and so are Farfeth'd with leek*, the legend about the hunter you can read in the library in D/P**) and in the anime (Ash worrying that Prof. Oak was eating his Krabby comes to mind, but there were numerous other examples). I've thought about it quite a bit (*cough*), and it seems to me that it's possible pokémon aren't (legally) killed for meat in the gameverse, but in the animeverse it's pretty clear that they are.

*Although given the context this comes up in, it's still possible that meat (or at least meat from actual living pokémon) is strictly a black-market item.
**Although that story DID take place a long time pre-canon, so it's possible things have changed since then.
