There are people out there who thinks that stuff looks good? It looks like paint to me.

I don't think it was meant to be food porn?

I mean it was supposed to be a, "this is what these kids imagine their food to look like" sort of thing. When I was a kid, I wasn't sitting around imagining beautiful, perfectly cooked dishes. A bunch of stuff that looked like candy and sweets? Entirely possible. Especially if you're a group of kids that have lived for God-knows-how-long without any kind of adult (except for the pirates who don't count) influence. You're going to go for what seems fun.

Multicolored food you can easily have a food fight with seems fun to me. :)

Yup.

But also, I kind of love that fans try to recreate this stuff. I can't imagine it tastes good, but I just like the idea of it.

They do? I did not know that.

Well, I mean, that's part of the secret? That people try to recreate the food from the movie.

I'm a dumbass. I sort of skimmed over that bit even though it's right in the middle.

Haha, no problem. I do that a lot too.

I never thought the food looked good but I think it looked appropriate for the scene- imaginary food versus real food.

I liked the food as a kid because I think it was so bright and colourful, as an adult... yeah not so much. I still like the context of the scene, Peter finding his inner child and all that, but the actual food looks rather gross looking to me these days.

But it's also the imagination of children manifesting it so that's probably why it's so colourful and frosting-like.

bleuggghh looks like play dough

It isn't meant to be food porn, it's meant to be brightly coloured and plausibly something that would be dreamed up by ten-year-olds.

I always thought it looked like dyed mashed potatoes and pretty gross. I can't imagine trying to make it in real life.

(Anonymous) 2017-05-30 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
Even as a kid, I thought it looked like tinted shaving foam, or posdibly whipped cream, but that woud still mean there was no real substance there, no yummy pie ir cake under the glop.

(Anonymous) 2017-05-30 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
the blue and green decorations look like they could be meringue? like, if one wanted to make a real-life version for whatever reason. looking up that person's recipe, I'm not sure i could stand to eat that much whipped cream (speaking as someone who can generally likes hideously sweet things)

I never thought that was food when I watched the movie. I just thought they already mixed funny ammunition in between all the food stuff, because a meal with all of them together would inevitably result in a fight.
