I'm sure he hits a character growth stride eventually, but I'm in mid-August and have to shout "SHUT UP RYUJI" most of the time when he's on screen. Guh, so much of what he does rubs me wrong.

Don't have an opinion yet on the obvious traitor, because mid-August, but I can see the appeal if there isn't months and months of "WHY DO YOU KEEP SAYING GROSS, OBNOXIOUS THINGS?!" attached... well.

I relate to the spoiler far more than Ryuji for Reasons and as much as I like Ryuji, I'm so sick of the stupid perverted scenes with him and how loud he is constantly. It's no wonder people can figure us out--he won't fucking shut up about it.

it's been like three months since it's been released, if you really cared you would have finished it. additionally it's known for the beginning of the game that there's a traitor within your group. OP doesn't actually name anyone.

Fuck the elitist attitude that not jumping on a game and dedicating all your time to finishing it in a week after it's out means you don't care enough and deserve to be spoiled. "If you really cared, you would have conveniently happened to have the time and money available to buy and play the game immediately!" Must be nice if that's the way it can be for you, but most of us need to do other things, too.

I think Yusuke is best boy. I usually don't like the annoying pervert characters like Ryuji but he's better than Akechi. I swear the scene where he's slowly approaching to shoot protagonist point blank was the creepiest shit ever.

I like Ryuji's loyalty, but when his other two big things are how he's perverted (and it happens constantly) and loud, he gets annoying and fast. He has zero volume control, all of his optional scenes at events where you have to pick between him and the girls you're dating are about him trying to get laid. And when he fails he whines about how he can't use the name of the group he helped fucking establish to take down a guy who was sexually abusing girls to the point one attempted suicide. It makes his entire arc ring kind of hollow until way late.

I find Akechi cliche and bland as shit, but Ryuji was also kind of eh? I think Atlus needs to stop regurgitating Junpei as your token BFF for every Persona game.

I hate to say this but Spoiler resonated more with me than Ryuji and I actually wished to save that character in some way, like meeting that character early on to trigger a different course of events?

That character is much like Jun Kurosu with the exception that Jun Kurosu could had the chance to break free of his father's influence, because the team had the mindset to drag him away from that person and not to defeat the boy who spent his life in an abusive household.
Now P5 is pretty much oh a What would happen if a broken character like Jun couldn't get any help/redemption.

As for Ryuji? I kicked him out of the team as soon as I got Yusuke because he was just that annoying. Did we really need blond Junpei? Couldn't we get someone like Eikichi at least?

Though I vastly prefer Yusuke (Best boy imo), I can easily see the appeal of Spoiler and when I finished the game, I knew that he was going to not only be a popular character, but he was going to be a big contender when it comes to shipping, if not the most popular ship.

I don't hate Ryuji, but I felt Morgana filled the best friend role better than him, despite the sleep nagging. I was pretty neutral on Ryuji, but he got annoying really fast with him talking a lot louder than he should about us being thieves in PUBLIC areas and wanting to be popular and get girls cause of it for a long period of time. And yes, I finished his Link (Was my first one max), and it sticks out like a sore thumb, seeing the development in his Link just not carry over to the Main Story. Maybe it's a fault of the game that character development in the Links not being linked to the main story? Who knows?

I also don't like or dislike Spoiler either, and honestly, I found him more interesting than Ryuji, but there's spoil stuff that really can't be ignored. I feel like he's more wasted potential in canon, I was expecting something more from the character, but it never happened (Maybe we'll see this in an upgrade version of the game?), so I guess that's where fanfiction comes into the picture?

I'm fine with Ryuji (except for when he was dragging me along trying to hit on the ladies like that's a group activity), but Spoiler was a severely disturbed child who got fucked over by the biggest assholes in the game. It broke my heart when I couldn't save him, and the whole boss fight was like trying to talk someone off the ledge at the same time as trying to beat him down. That's a rare game experience, and one of the moments I'm definitely going to remember P5 for.
