The first couple of books in the series are incredibly rough. I fucking hated both Kate and Curran's pointless overaggression and gave up after the first two books. But then I picked it up again further down the line (book 4 or 5) and they got so much fucking better once they were already banging and weren't wasting pages on their cock dominance competitions. Kate mostly just tries to prove something to him in particular, once she no longer has to, she's actually likeable.
