The whole Magic series has unusually intense gore and violent description for its genre in my experience. I remember being pretty unsettled by the extremes the first book went to, as well, and while it doesn't get much worse, that book's tone is maintained throughout the series. I think it's a great series, but you have to have the stomach for the heroine getting drenched in awful substances all the time.

Gotcha. Thanks for letting me know! Yeah, it's weird, I can handle basically any amount of blood, but the second you bring up the inner wobbly bits I just nope out. Made working at a vet's office very interesting, to say the least. I think they used to ask me to assist with necropsies just to see me get all lightheaded and green.

Oh, wow, you're not the only one who'd feel faint doing that, lol. I can't remember if it was the first book or another one where Kate was cutting up a dead vampire to see who its owner was with vivid details, so yeah, more of that stuff.
