I was having lunch with a friend. It was just after the Batman movie theater shooting, and some news thing came on the tv in the diner about Christian Bale dressing up in his Batman costume to visit the survivors of the shooting in the hospital. I commented that that was nice of him to do that and for some reason my friend got really mad about it and INSISTED that it wasn't nice at all and he was only doing it to look like a nice person. I have no idea why, but she was really, really determined to believe that there could not possibly be any altruistic motive, only a self-aggrandizing selfish one. She was getting really steamed so I eventually changed the subject. I have no idea whatsoever why this was such A Thing for her. I don't know if she hates Batman, or hates Christian Bale, or hates celebrities in general, or what. It was really bizarre.
