I say: do it. You have the funds saved up and have been thinking about it for a while, so go right ahead.

I've been in a similar situation before. Long story short: my manager threatened to fire me in front of my entire brigade at work. Before that, I'd been perfectly happy with my job. Fortunately, a couple of days after that, I found another place that was hiring with better benefits and pay. Once I'd gotten that job, I turned in my two-week notice to the manager who threatened to fire me.

He went ballistic. He basically told me if I didn't refuse the new job, I'd never work for that particular franchise again (they own all but one location in my entire city).

I turned on my heel and walked out. Never regretted it for a second. In fact, I got stabs of vicious joy when my former co-workers would stop by my new job and tell me how much I was missed (I basically did managerial work without the official title and for scut pay).
