I hate this for you. I hate that it happened to you and I hate that he tried giving you an "I'm sorry YOU'RE upset" apology.

I actually called him out on that. I was nearly crying but I told him that you don't apologize to people (especially as my boss) by saying "I'm sorry you were upset by that." I told him he needs to apologize for HIS actions not my response. I am surprised I was able to put that together considering how emotional I was.
