Oh geez. Yeah, I think you're justified in doing exactly that. Just be prepared for him to be an ass and nag at you about how shocked he is that you're actually quitting. They obviously take advantage of you, and types like that are always surprised when their victim stands up for themselves. Then be prepared for anger from him. And when future employers call him, be prepared for him to badmouth you (prep for this and give a civil and professional warning to interviewers).
