Me, too, OP, if only because the show is so much better w/o him now. Not a slam against Weatherly or DiNozzo at all (I loved DiNozzo back in the Ziva and Kate days), but because it opened up room for Torres and Quinn and a whole bunch of fresh new interactions. Tony just seemed really bland without a foil to spark against. Neither Bishop nor McGee could do that for him.

The problem I had with him is that his character arc topped out when he turned down the Rota-Spain gig. Ever since then he was treading water, just there to make a dumb gag or same something sexist.

Honestly, his character should have left the show long before it did. He was kinda pathetic after that. They could have salvaged it by having McGee get promoted ahead of him and take advantage of him having nuked his own career and have him deal with it, but they didn't.

AYRT

Yeah, treading water is exactly right. He reminded me of a has-been lounge performer on the Vegas circuit.

Thank you for putting a finger on what I was feeling and why. I ended up binge-watching everything up until the current season, and I knew somehow Tony had started boring me, but I couldn't figure out what had changed. You're right. The character needed a foil to work off of. Bishop is too serious, and his banter with McGee was always lopsided. He needed someone sassy to keep him on his toes.

I'm actually looking forward to binge-watching the current (just ending) season and meeting the new character or characters that have joined the cast.
