Whenever an actor/actress leaves a highly successful show, I resent them for it, because I think (irrationally, I will admit) that they are ungrateful their success. I'm so happy he left NCIS to do this show (Bull). *facepalm*

Hmm.

I sometimes think that they are ungrateful their success, but I also feel like there comes a point in an actor's career where if they don't want to keep playing the same character, or feel like they've taken the character as far as they want to in terms of development, or just don't want to be completely pigeon-holed, then maybe they get to leave without it being ungrateful and, for me, 13 years as the same character (over 300 episodes) goes past that point. So, I don't think you need to feel bad about being glad in this case, unless you were resentful of another actor that left after so many years (I can't actually think of any others).

I know. In some cases I think I'm right, but in other cases I know I'm not but can't stomp down the feeling. Hence irrational!

The actor who played Derek Morgan on Criminal Minds left after ten? seasons. I didn't feel like he was ungrateful either, so *shrugs*.

I really liked him on NCIS and I've been curious about this show. Is it any good?

Not according to my mom. *lol*

You have to accept the show for what it is: very light hearted entertainment that has nothing whatsoever to do with reality. Once that's done, it's great!

Exactly. I'm loving it.

My parents like it, and I've enjoyed what little I've seen of it.

Not familiar with the shows or actor, but that's a pretty cool logo/pic.

Not really. :/ It's literally a rip-off of Orphan Black's season 2 cover. https://www.amazon.com/gp/video/detail/B00J7JY812?ref_=aiv_dp_season_select

maybe, but the bull one is done better

(Anonymous) 2017-06-03 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
I like neither, but if I had to choose one, I'd say Orphan's Black's frames her face better.

Me, too, OP, if only because the show is so much better w/o him now. Not a slam against Weatherly or DiNozzo at all (I loved DiNozzo back in the Ziva and Kate days), but because it opened up room for Torres and Quinn and a whole bunch of fresh new interactions. Tony just seemed really bland without a foil to spark against. Neither Bishop nor McGee could do that for him.

The problem I had with him is that his character arc topped out when he turned down the Rota-Spain gig. Ever since then he was treading water, just there to make a dumb gag or same something sexist.

Honestly, his character should have left the show long before it did. He was kinda pathetic after that. They could have salvaged it by having McGee get promoted ahead of him and take advantage of him having nuked his own career and have him deal with it, but they didn't.

AYRT

Yeah, treading water is exactly right. He reminded me of a has-been lounge performer on the Vegas circuit.

Thank you for putting a finger on what I was feeling and why. I ended up binge-watching everything up until the current season, and I knew somehow Tony had started boring me, but I couldn't figure out what had changed. You're right. The character needed a foil to work off of. Bishop is too serious, and his banter with McGee was always lopsided. He needed someone sassy to keep him on his toes.

I'm actually looking forward to binge-watching the current (just ending) season and meeting the new character or characters that have joined the cast.

I always see this show (Bull) being advertised like it's the most popular new show right now, but I've yet to meet anyone who actually watches it lol.
