Re: Should I or shouldn't I

Should I go to Paris for the weekend in two weeks? Originally I planned to go to a fan convention and get some autographs, and also see a show. But the theatre more or less burned down and the production was cancelled, which leaves the fan convention. But it's also Paris, it's not like I'll be hunting for stuff to do. I'm on the fence because the trip was gonna be my reward for finishing my degree in two years from transferring. I'd budgeted for five semesters because 60% of transfer students at my school take more than four semesters from transferring to graduate, and I told myself if I did it in four I'd spend the last semester's worth on a trip. But my mom's in hospice care, I just got a new cat, and I have baby chicks coming in the mail this Tuesday. I guess I should go some other time when I can take longer than a weekend. I'm just gonna be bummed and jealous of people who got to go to the convention. I also can't find my passport, which is kind of crucial. Sigh.

How long does it take you to get there and how are you traveling? Personally, unless it's to go to a wedding, I'm not stepping on a plane or driving more than 6 hours each way for a weekend trip (and wouldn't want to spend longer than that on a train or bus).

I would not fly to Paris for a weekend trip unless I lived in Europe already maybe. (as it is, I actually live on almost the exact opposite side of the planet so the plane trip would be exhausting).

That said, it also sounds like you've got enough going on that you should probably pass on it right now. I'd suggest you wait and figure out some other trip you can take in the future that you'd enjoy and be able to spend more time on.
