Third this! Especially the "people suck" part. I often enjoy dark shows as long as there are characters worth rooting for. But if there's no one worth rooting for it's like, what's the point?

Also, it pisses me off that so many people think stories where everyone sucks are more accurate representations of reality. Like, yes, people are complicated and imperfect, but I have friends who are good people and family who are good people and I feel like I'm pretty ok myself. So whenever people argue that a super cynical, Everybody Sucks story is more realistic, I always kind of think: Isn't that an insult to your friends? And if you really believe that, why do you even have friends at all? And does that mean you're a shitty person? Or is it just that you believe everybody sucks except you?
