Paranormal romance.

Almost all monster hunter stuff. Especially if the monster hunter is also a monster. I'll make exceptions for Lukyanenko's Night Watch, although I'm kinda off reading any new material from him.

I tend to bounce off of big second-world epic fantasy these days. I think my last crack at it was Kameron Hurley's The Mirror Empire where I got a third of the way into it and couldn't keep track of which character from a half-dozen different plot threads came from which culture. Now that I think about, I'm getting increasingly annoyed by SFF publishing's love of "novels" that are not really novels, just exercises in going nowhere and doing nothing until a last-chapter cliffhanger to sell the next part of the series.
