What video game did you never complete that you actually WANTED to complete?

(Anonymous) 2017-06-06 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Why didn't you finish it?

Neverwinter Nights 2.

Bishop's predatory sexuality, and the way the game kept forcing me to work with him, was a bit triggering. (There were life circumstances that had me a bit raw at the time.)

Dragon Quest VIII. I had to go back to school, but I never picked it up again when I came back home.

Ori and the Blind Forest. I really liked the game but once I got Bash, it became too hard to play. I could never get the hang of it.

Odd World Abe's Oddysee. I couldn't get past the red/gree three pixel wide bombs. I really liked the game and I really liked the bits I got to play. But being red/green colorblind (1 in 20 men, and 1 in 200 women) meant that the whole "tap the tiny flashing thing when it turns green instead of red" cut me off from it right from the start. It was too small for me to pick up any color difference, and it was right before the save point, so it was always just a gamble as to whether I hit it right or whether I lost a whole chapter's worth of progress. Eventually I just gave up.

Also maybe the 1st Discworld text adventure game. I ended up buying the walkthrough book, the puzzles were too fiendish for me.

that one breath of fire game with the gameplay mechanic that expects you to ng+ it at any time so you can see extended scenes that further explain the plot. because of that, I was constantly torn between trying to beat the game and wanting to experience everything. I'll beat it....someday.

Threads of Fate, I can't get past the mandatory minigames, and Shadow of the Colossus, because I really suck at driving the horse.

Persona 3. I was spoiled about the ending and it really depressed me so much that I couldn't bring myself to play it, it was right before the final battle, too. But I can't do it.

Persona 2: I wanted to level up more skills before the final battle but it took so long and I because I was playing it on a friend's PSP, I had a bad conscience about keeping it so long. And then I kind of forgot about it.

The last DLC for Dishonored. I took a long break playing it and I'm pretty close to the end. But picking it back up now seems such a hassle because I'm really out of practise. I need to finish this one though, before I start with Dishonored 2 but I'm not in the mood for it.

I tried and failed to even watch the ending of the anime movie adaption so I guess I won't be able to take the actual game any time soon...

Almost of them because I do suck that bad.

I've only completed North vs South and Bigfoot (monster truck racing game) on my own. Used that Game Genie thing for TMNT2.

Arkham Asylum. I figured out the strategy for beating Poison Ivy (and looked up a walkthru to confirm), but have yet to be actually able to pull it off.

Xenoblade Chronicles. I did that thing where I got bored because I binged it and put it down and I just haven't picked it back up again. Which is weird, because when I was playing, I was enjoying the shit out of it.

Until last week, I'd say Persona 4 Golden, but I finally returned and finished my file after dropping it for like 4-5 years! :D

Breath of Fire II.
I don't mind turn-based, but the game is on the difficult side (I kept dyinggggg) and I was playing it with a phone emulator which kept freezing on me.
Also, I wish the turn-based in it was just a little more sophisticated.
I kind of ran aground and haven't managed. Maybe I can do it this summer...

WAY TOO MANY

my backloggery is terrifying

but, for starters: the missing ffs (vi, viii, xii, xiii-2-lr, xv, crystal chronicles); starcraft (got derailed by life during the third campaign) and expansion and sequel and expansions; warcraft ii and iii (ditto), the command and conquer nod campaign, c&c 2, 3 and 4, red alert 2 allied campaign and 3; dragon quest v, vi and viii; children of mana; bayonetta ii; bioshock, doom 3 expansion, new doom; rock band 3 and 4, guitar hero live; god alone knows how many others

the granddaddy of them all: my favourite game of all time, the original zx spectrum head over heels

reasons for not completing: moving house getting in the way, general life getting in the way, diablo 3 getting in the way (that game is a total timesink), head over heels: constantly getting lost on book world - i've still only beaten it as a remake (which had a better save system)

Demon Stalkers: the Raid on Doomfane

I never finished it because it was an eighties game with no save points, so every time you died you went RIGHT BACK TO THE FUCKING BEGINNING.

I think I got to the high teens or twenties (out of a hundred levels)?

Ocarina of Time though I don't know if it's a WANT to complete cause if I do then it's over...so I've gotten all the way to the point where all that's left to do is go fight Ganondorf and like. I just never did. Heck, I've restarted the dang game and done the same thing.

I did the same thing with Twilight Princess.

And now I'm putting it off in Breath of the Wild too (but at least there I have the excuse that I haven't GOTTEN ALL THE THINGS yet).

haha, Skyrim. I plan on finishing it eventually. I have more hours on it than any other PC game except Civ V, but like, ALL THE SIDEQUESTS, ALL OF THEM
