That's exactly why healthy foods are the only ones that should be subsidized. Poor people can't afford them. Ramen, they can get on their own time with, what, half an hour's worth of fishing pennies out of sidewalk cracks?

Then you'd either have to subsidize MORE or lower the prices of those items at least nationally - or, do you not get the that this makes a huge difference in a monthly budget? I gave the ramen example cause it will still give a you a semi-filling meal for like 50 cents - not much other foods do that.

But if you subsidize for a fixed amount, and people can only buy healthy food, then in practice they just end up with LESS food.
