Needs more love

What things do you wish were more popular, still popular, known at all, had a fandom, etc.?

Alpha Protocol.

I NEED more art of my Girl Sie.

Similarly, Mercenaries, I need more fanart of my Girl Jen.

Just about any book fandom beyond super popular ones like Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, etc. Seems like people have a lot of love for a specific book or series, but that love doesn't always translate into a fandom presence.

That's what inspired me to start this thread!

Right now I'm reading a series called "Iremonger" by Edward Carey and I WISH it had a fandom, or at least was somewhat popular, but there's nothing.

It's a kind of combination of fantasy, dystopia, and alternate-history where trash and discarded items have been allowed to pile up into a huge wasteland of trash heaps (I swear it's better than that makes it sound), and the family that manages them who all have their own special objects, which one kid can hear speaking.

I'd really like books like Mistmantle (and to a lesser extent, Cirque Du Freak and Redwall) to get more popularity.

I've been getting back into the Vlad Taltos series over the last few days and having so much fun. None of my friends have read it though.

I wish Ranma Half were still more popular. I miss that fandom.

I also wish Knights of God and Ulysses 31 had fandoms at all.

Legend of the Seeker had a small but active fandom for a while. I want that fandom back.

Babylon 5 always could use a bigger fandom.

And while the whole Tolkien fandom is large, that is mostly movie or LOTR/Hobbit book fans. The SIlmarillion fandom is pretty small.

CrossGen

I've been working on scanning/posting some of the issues and I just want someone to talk to about it. There's so much interesting stuff in it. I also think it would make a great canon to crossover or fuse with other canons.

So many of the podcasts I love. :( King Falls AM. We're Alive. Wolf 359. EOS 10 (though this has been on hiatus for so long, it may be abandoned).

Hannibal. Always.

Eastern Promises. It's an amazing film but hardly anyone I know has heard of it.

The Bartimaeus Trilogy. They are children's books but still worth reading and I love the footnotes and the humour.

Hakouoki. It's a shitty visual novel about vampire/zombie samurai but I fell in love with the whole Shisengumi era after playing the game. Definitely worth playing if you're into history being "rewritten" with supernatural elements.

Never Understand. I think Killing Stalking kind of dominates the BL Korean webtoon scene at the moment, but I think Never Understand deserves to be more popular than it is.

I thought Dengeki Daisy and Alice 19th were both really cute manga series and I'm still disappointed that they're not super popular. Dengeki Daisy ended decently, but I feel like Alice 19th had potential and should've been a few more volumes longer.

I'm honestly sad that I discovered both Kyo Kara Maoh and No. 6 years after they were things people talked about. My fannish interaction with both have been internet archeology :(

I don't really wish a fandom onto Mawaru Penguindrum, but it definitely deserves to be talked about more than it is.

Kyoukai No Kanata. I think it gets overshadowed by KyoAni's other work, but it is such a solidly good show with great characters and storytelling.

I'm always super disappointed that there's not more Scott/Logan fic, especially because I recently watched Logan and am in need of comfort and happy endings. There's so much bloody Eric/Charles, though. Why, goddammit!

it was brilliant, it was groundbreaking, and it's completely vanished off the face of the earth - the only torrent i could find of it was woeful quality and dubbed in spanish (wut)

Re: Needs more love

I touched on this yesterday, but I always felt the Inception fandom was mostly Leo worship and shipping. It was a deep movie that had so much meta potential.

So I guess there was a fandom, but it wasn't really... about the inner workings of the film. Just shipping.

I never understood why Mad Men didn't have more of a fandom.

Also, Parks and Recreation.

The Hawkeye comics. I want more Fraction!Hawkeye love in the fandom and fic.

I wish the Les Mis fandom hadn't died down so much. Maybe the BBC series will revitalize it some but other than that... I miss the post movie heyday, even if it did have more drama.

Also a lot of Shakespeare fandoms; Hamlet is the only one with something decently sized.

Shark, the James Woods lawyer show that ran from 2006-2008. Yes, Jimmy-boy is fucking crazy-cakes, but he was fantastic in this, as was Jeri Ryan and basically the entire cast. They all had good chemistry and character development (okay, so Stark's teen daughter Julie was a moron) and there were lots of wacky lawyer antics to be had. The fandom was always pretty small, but we had a lot of fun with each other, and I still kinda miss that.

Also, Project Eden from the PS2 was criminally underappreciated. It's set in a city that's literally built on top of itself, and the actual city limits end only 3 levels down. Four cops are sent to investigate some disappearances of a group of technicians on the lower levels of the city proper, and end up discovering a conspiracy that takes them all the way to the bottom and below the surface, fighting increasing numbers of mutants along the way. All four cops are playable, and you can switch between them at will, though each one has their own specialty that you need to get through certain points. You've got Carter, a no-nonsense older black man who's the leader of the team and who is the one you need to get into authorized areas and interview people. Then there's Andre, a Hispanic mechanic whose omnitool (no, not the one in his pants, as he likes to joke) is needed to repair stuff that allows you to proceed. There's Amber, a cyborg who was severely injured in an accident when she was young, and opted to be put into a robot body instead of a more organic repair process. She can walk through fire and radiation and has a built-in laser cannon. What's not to love? Finally, there's Minako, who is half-Japanese and half-English, and who is a hacker and who may have more to do with this conspiracy than even she realizes...

Lastman. No, not Y or the manga by the same name, a French/Belgian comics, plus prequel cartoon.
