When the story writers are trying way too hard for a twist (such as in a murder mystery), that they just make anybody the culprit. Unfortunately, a lot of the time, it comes off as "accuse now, think of motive later!" (which is weird for me to say, considering the guy in my icon)

a lot of the time the culprit turns out to be this one character who was never in the show before that episode but all the other characters seem to know him anyway. I hate that. It's very sloppy writing.
