A/B/O

The A/B/O version I made up with a friend when it's just some people having interesting sets of genitals and times of increased libido is chill, but the emotional/physical dependency and having some characters reduced as fuck machines is just eeeeeugh.

I'm absolutely down for the creative genitals and increased libido times part. It's everything else that usually comes with A/B/O fic.

See, I'm okay with the various Implications in A/B/O as long as they're actually explored. My wife and I have an A/B/O AU for a fandom I'm in right now that... doesn't really focus a whole lot on the actual sex of it, haha. More like "okay here's 30% of a population that's genetically 'different' and what are the issues surrounding that?" We sort of use the generally "accepted" rules of A/B/O as stereotypes these characters are having to deal with, when the reality is a lot different.

Honestly, I think way too much about it, haha.

I hate that it's taken some of my favorite kinks (sex pollen, heat cycles) and intertwined thiem with things that are huge squicks (gender essentialism, biologically determined dominance roles, scent marking, pseudo-bestiality) to the point where it's almost impossible to find anything that doesn't have my squicks.

Yeah, A/B/O is just... no thank you. :/
