I feel you, OP. I have this major squirk for mentor/protege ships regardless of the gender(s) of people involved. I can usually do May/December romances--unless one of the characters is clearly the "mentor"/"boss"/"teacher" figure.

So, Marianne/ Colonel Brandon is fine for me, whereas Lupin/Hermione (or Lupin/Harry or Trelawney/Lavender Brown for that matter) would make me uncomfortable.

Marianne Dashwood was literally 16 years old. So... you're way closer to the fucked up line than some ship where someone in their 20s is attracted to someone in their 40s, historical or not.
