I had braces some years ago. It only took about 6 months to straighten the bite, but I'll have to keep the retention wire glued to the back of my teeth for good, so that they won't return to the original position. Worth it, though.

Really? The thought of having the retention wire in for life trips me out. How are you handling it (obviously, you said it was worth it, but still)/ how long have you had for? Does it interfere with eating? Speaking?

I've had it for maybe six(?) years now. It doesn't interfere with eating or speaking at all. Flossing is obviously more difficult, but that's it. At first I kept touching it with my tongue constantly, but after I got used to it I hardly notice it anymore.
