My favorite is The Village

Minority view you got there, but I can dig it. I love Ms Bryce Howard.

Didn't he rip off some obscure-ish YA book for the plot of that one?

It used to be a plot twist for a lot of books at the time and I recall one with same village and taboo to go in the woods but due to slavic gods not monsters. The world outside was modern one but ... in a timey wimey way so they were really in the past. City of Ember was kind of similar as well.

That's my favourite, too, but Signs is a close second.

I like The Village too. It's not perfect, but it's pretty decent. I'll never understand why it gets shit on so much. It's honestly not that bad smh.

I can see it. From what I've heard, the premise is pretty solid. It's apparently the execution of the second half that dragged it.

Mine too! I went to see it in the theater with a bunch of friends and we all had quite passionate opinions about it. Ended up discussing it for hours. I suspect the fact that it was marketed as a horror film when it was actually an allegory for the post-9/11 Bush presidency made people hate it.

Yessss. Even though the 'twist' was obvious (to me), I still love that film. Signs a close second. I don't dislike The Sixth Sense, but I have always been pretty damn 'meh' on Unbreakable.

I was so intothat film until the stupid twist. But I'll still give it props for awesome atmosphere. I just prefer to pretend that the second half never existed.

Ditto. I know his reputation has gone down the pan a bit over the past few years, but I still completely unironically love Signs, and rewatch it regularly. The party reveal scene is iconic.
