Thiiiiiiiiiiiis. I don't know why it triggers my secondhand embarrassment so bad, but it does.

People I don't like being in them.

Forced, unnecessary romance subplot. Especially if it involves a woman who hasn't expressed interest and a guy who won't leave her alone.

Yep. And if all his annoying persistence and refusal to take no for an answer somehow ends up in romantic success, I get really irritated.

Shaky cam usage.

Goddamn this was annoying during Macbeth. You know what they don't have on stage? Shaky cam!

Boring characters. I don't care if it's the most amazing plot in the world, I can't get behind basic personalities that I've seen a thousand times. I'm so over it.

That's probably why Death Proof is one of my all-time favourite movies.

Trivializing death.

Realistic violence. I am nonplussed, nay amused, by cartoony fountains of blood like in Kill Bill. Real life agony like the guy getting sloooowly stabbed in the heart in Saving Private Ryan? That can fuck RIGHT off.

Bad audio. Like I can generally handle low budget films if the plot/acting is good, but if the audio has that really hollow weird sound, it's like nails on a chalkboard and I can't power through it. :/

A whole lot of unnecessary swearing. When it fits, swearing is great. But when you just have every character swearing every other word and it makes no sense, I get uncomfortable. It feels like the movie makers are just trying to be edgy and get the most bang for their buck out of the rating, and it annoys me.

Long kisses, especially with sounds. Yuck. If I'm watching a movie, it's always for the action or comedy, not the romantic aspect of it. I know I'm in the minority. :B

Hateful jokes (ie. racist, homophobic, etc.). I don't usually watch movies with this type of humor, but when one slips into an otherwise fun movie it's kind of jarring.

Killing innocent, kind characters to create drama (ex. the old couple in Wolverine, the family (in addition to Logan's friends) in Logan). I will not watch the latter again for a multitude of reasons, but the absolute slaughter of "good" characters in that segment completely ruined it for me.

Similarly, hurting/killing animals for a joke or just to be a dick. Hunting for food or defending yourself is fine, but accidentally hitting the neighbor's annoying dog with your car and making a witty one-liner about it is awful.

Man, long kisses don't ruin movies for me, but I ALWAYS get super uncomfortable during scenes like that. I like romance just fine, but long make out scenes always makes me feel like... voyeuristic?

You typed up my list for me so I didn't have to. Yes, to all of these.

know what you mean about hateful jokes. Some racist crap can totally ruin an otherwise good old movie I was really enjoying up till then.

Characters who've known each other all of a week declaring their undying love.

Pet deaths in horror films. 99.999999% of the time it's done for shock value.

What are your thoughts on Cujo?

Tom Cruise.

My two exceptions to that rule are Edge of Tomorrow and Tropic Thunder.
