Miranda Otto is a good actress but IMHO she wasn't tough-looking enough to do Eowyn justice.

I agree, she really wasn't though IMO it had more to do with how she carried herself as opposed to her looks specifically. I thought the only scene where she looked comfortable handling a sword was that scene where she unpacks a sword from a chest and does a few swings with it. The rest of the time, she looked slightly uncomfortable and held her sword like she was afraid it would bite her.

I think they must have given her a much lighter sword for the sparring scene :/. During the actual battle she looks like she's never used one.

Agreed. I'm not saying she has to be Aragorn levels of sword competency (though that would've been nice!) but for that final confrontation with the Witch King, she looks like she's wielding a fireplace poker instead of a sword.
