I can excuse people thinking the poster story is true in the absence of additional details because, frankly, trying to steal a propaganda poster for a souvenir sounds exactly like the kind of thing some people would do. Up until today, I hadn't read anything that provided any elaboration. The part about him being pulled aside as he was leaving the country or that he was accused of stealing it to harm people's work ethic casts it in a different light.

Anyone who thinks he (or anyone) deserved 15 years hard labor and/or to die is an idiot.
