(Anonymous) 2017-06-21 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)We see them from the age of 11 onward, and childhood and one's teen years are awkward and weird and full of not being not being as cool as the teens on the Disney Channel, so it strikes me a a bit cruel to judge characters entirely and forever on the basis of who they were age 11-17. Unless a person was a complete asshole - which Rom wasn't - then you've got to cut them some slack. I wasn't anyone spectacular when I was that age, either.
We don't know much about the adults Ron and Hermione grew into, but I just assume they grew into adults who were still compatible with each other, because that's what the story suggests happened, and because it is something that occasionally happens in real life.
