I don't get it either. They are both flawed, just like Harry, but they obviously respect and care a lot about each other. I really love J.K Rowling portrayal of the Golden Trio's friendship. It was very organic and realistic and not overly idealistic and perfect like a lot of fantasy stories tend to do.

I always felt Ron and Hermione were always an old married couple long before they actually got married. I've been loving that ship since the 3rd book.
