I don't mind it as a ship, but I don't find it interesting and I can't see how it would work out well in the long run.
And it's definitely not all on Ron. I actually think Hermione is the weaker link in the couple, because she's much more confident and much more arrogant in a way. Ron tends to argue from the position of being an emotional jerk, the side of "you hurt me so I'm mad at you", and he tends to take the more humble side in his arguments. He gets mad at Hermione bc he thinks she doesn't respect his rat or his feelings. He gets mad at Harry bc he thinks Harry is trying to be a stuck-up rich kid celebrity.
Hermione argues from the position of "I'm right bc I'm smart." Hers is more of a vindictive and self-righteous anger rather than wounded anger. (Harry tends to be mad in the same way as Hermione. They both tend to think about things in the same ways, which is part of why they stay friends even when Harry+Ron or Hermione+Ron are fighting.) But this means that she's not likely to admit she's wrong, and we see how she holds grudges and stuff throughout the books.
