i think it's because most of the fandom wants to be hermione, not ron. she's "ugly" as a kid and then turns beautiful and is desired by the best quidditch player in the world and she's a nerd but that makes her smarter and better at everything than anyone. ron is... the loyal everyman. he ain't no wish fulfillment and his flaws are much more relatable. that's my theory
