Which character's the one in the flashback? Because there are all kinds of offensive implications in saying that a neurodivergent person is like a child.

That's supposed to be kid!Sherlock.

Is it also a bit of, "men can't be raped unless they're buggered" wank?

It's Sherlock (humourously enough, I just watched that episode this morning). So, yeah. Implications ahoy.

Ugh agreed and it angers me to imagine people applying "child coded" to nuerodivergent people. Because imo it kind of amounts to telling them "you/people like you are not REALLY an adult. even if you are one"

That kind of thing is the kind of attitude that has messed with me throughout my teen years and is the reason I was robbed of a lot of things that could have given me more independence. It's ableism basically from people who tend to like to talk about how not ableist you are.

I don't know about you but calling someone a pedophile for shipping a disabled/neurodivergent character or portraying them in a relationship is pretty damn ableist.

The idea that Sherlock is "child coded" is utter BS, imo, but it's also not actually canon that he's definitively neurodivergent. Yes, he could have Asperger's. He could also have Schizoid Personality Disorder, and/or Narcissistic Personality Disorder. He could also potentially be manic depressive. Or some other thing I haven't mentioned here. But it isn't actually canon that he is any of these things. It's canon that he's extremely intelligent, has an excellent memory, and is often insensitive of others.

Giant assumption there that Sherlock is neurodivergent and not just an arrogant asshole.
