At least one inside view of the business is that Marvel Comics's editorial decisions have more to do with their board being dumb as a box of rocks than struggling readership. Fans are just the scapegoat for Marvel's bad marketing and refusal to deal with new distribution models.

1. They're still making decisions on monthly sales even though the market for print periodicals has been going to hell for almost two decades, and brick-and-mortar retail of print is getting chewed up by Amazon.

2. They've ridiculously split their core brands among dozens of titles in a shrinking marketplace.

3. ANOTHER FUCKING CROSSOVER EVENT.

Oh God the crossover events. I stopped reading at least three different Marvel titles because I was sick of all of the crossover events. Add in the new Nazi event, and nope, count me out for everything but America.
