Does Sherlock count?

I mean, when the Internet hyped Sherlock to me only the first series was out, and I guess they weren't inaccurate (everybody warned me about The Blind Banker). I think the Internet is just in denial about the rest of the show.

AYRT

Sherlock in general didn't do anything for me personally. I watched the first episode and really did not enjoy it. I mean I'm glad people have had fun with it but it's just not for me.

First two series of Sherlock were awesome. Third season was uneven, and the special and the follow up were absolute dreck.

It does. Especially because fans still try to insist to me that the first two seasons were great, and only the Christmas special and third season sucked. IMO, the first two seasons were better than what came after, but that's a very low bar.

I liked the first season best because, while it had plenty of flaws, it also had so much potential. Sure, it was rough around the edges, but I naively thought that would improve and I was excited to see where it would go! Then each subsequent season stubbornly stuck to the flaws and threw out the stuff that had potential...

Yes, same here. I watched the first episode and thought it seemed promising, but hoped they'd smooth out the rough edges in characterization and plot over time. They didn't. Instead of improving as I thought they would (and as many series do over time) the show actually got worse. So to me, the early seasons only look "amazing" in contrast to what a trainwreck the later ones were.

This is seriously the most accurate and succinct summary of the show. I especially love the bit about stubbornly sticking to the flaws and throwing out the stuff with potential because it's just SO. FUCKING. TRUE.
