What has the internet lied to you about?

(Anonymous) 2017-06-24 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
is there something the seemed like the collective internet raved about, but you didn't like?

Hot singles in my area, supposedly.

Quest bars. I saw review after review talking about how good they were, so I bought a few. Those things tasted like shit and were super expensive.

yesss. I bought one just to try one day and was seriously disappointed. I don't get it.

My brother bought a bunch of them and would eat them. I tried one and it was so awful

IMO there's a major difference in standards between "Things that taste good" vs. "Healthy things that taste good, relatively speaking, for a healthy thing".

Does Sherlock count?

Re: What has the internet lied to you about?

(Anonymous) 2017-06-24 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I mean, when the Internet hyped Sherlock to me only the first series was out, and I guess they weren't inaccurate (everybody warned me about The Blind Banker). I think the Internet is just in denial about the rest of the show.

First two series of Sherlock were awesome. Third season was uneven, and the special and the follow up were absolute dreck.

See also: BBC 2018 Dracula series.

Re: What has the internet lied to you about?

(Anonymous) 2017-06-24 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
It does. Especially because fans still try to insist to me that the first two seasons were great, and only the Christmas special and third season sucked. IMO, the first two seasons were better than what came after, but that's a very low bar.

A bunch of things that supposedly have "canon" poly relationships and turn out to just be love triangles or platonic groups of friends.

Re: What has the internet lied to you about?

(Anonymous) 2017-06-24 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
And also "canon lesbians" who are literally just best friends and nothing else.

I figured that's people seeing what they want to see and being happy with even the barest hint of that potential.

Joss Whedon
raspberryrain: "Waiting for the train" cropped and colour-shifted (rain)

The amount of hate Joss gets is amazing, although I think it's a backlash from the ridiculous amount of love he was getting twenty years ago.

BAM, someone said it. Honestly, I agree. They're soft and relatively flavorless, like most mass produced commercial bread products are. It's just that most Americans aren't picky about their bread.

The internet likes Olive Garden? I've been hearing nothing but complaints about it for years.
