okay so wtf is this game and why is it so creepy someone fill me in?

(Anonymous) 2017-06-25 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
It isn't that creepy, it's just a dating sim game with assholes. Most of the guys don't really love the heroine so they do some pretty assholeish things to her, like insulting her or killing her in a bad end (bear in mind they are vampires and MC is a human girl), but it's pretty vanilla compared to actually fucked up and creepy games like Hadaka Shitsuji or Togainu no Chi.

I don't really agree that just because it's not as bad as some other games out there it's really light and just yet another bad-boy romance game. But I understand how that's subjective.

Here's some reviews/writeups I found on google if you want to look into it yourself.

OP of comment.

Those reviews don't seem biased. Not at all.

They're a little OTT, but pretty accurate. The game is visually pleasing but very dumb, trash characters, 50 Shades-esque sex, idiot heroine, makes you mad because it had potential and doesn't execute well.

It's the only otome game I've played that didn't bore me to tears. It isn't a good story, sure, but it's entertaining, looks pretty and I liked the short chapters structure.

Maybe I just have bad luck and tend to pick up shit otome games, but Dialovers was a blessing compared to other otome games.

Didn't play the game, only watched the anime, but out of all the dickwad guys she was surrounded by, he was the worst. I forwarded through his scenes after the umpteenth time he tried to kill her for not saying hi to his goddamn teddy bear. I can't conceive this being a likeable "romance" option in game. It didn't help that the MC was an abysmal flour sack of a character, of course. Maybe if she had reacted reasonably (or at all, ffs) to his insane outbursts, I could've tolerated it.

They're not likable romance options. That's the point. She's trapped in a horrible situation, she's unfortunately not the superhero able to fight vampires the way the people who hate the franchise want her to be. She's just trying to make the best of it.

(Anonymous) 2017-06-26 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't expect her to be able to fight them, but reacting to their bullshit with more than a blank stare would have been cool. Fear, anger, crying, escape attempts, an internal monologue that wasn't literally restating what just happened... anything to suggest she had a personality. (Again, that's the anime, I don't know about the game.) I guess I don't understand the appeal when the guys are awful AND the girl is dumb and unrelatable.

(Anonymous) 2017-06-26 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, yes. That's definitely the anime's fault, as is par the course for heroines in otoge adaptations...

I love this series. It's such a nice change of pace. After all the sugary sweet otoge (which I also love) I find this. It was creepy, I was sick to my stomach just about the whole way through, but it kept things interesting.

Kanato's cute and so horrible by the way. The level of psychological damage he delivered went above and beyond what the other brothers managed. His second ending makes it all worthwhile though, absolutely hilarious.
