At this point it seems its haters are more obsessed. People who watched and like this show obsess over it for like a month or so after they watch it, as is natural, the post watch high.

Those who hate it seem to spend months being butthurt. Contrarianism is a full time job apparently. Gotta take every opportunity to hate the thing others like so you can declare yourself above it all. You guys are boring.

Really? It reads more like disappointment to me. He clearly loves Sherlock Holmes, and thinks Moffat can actually write some good stuff under the right circumstances. I feel the same way - Sherlock had elements of brilliant potential (plus an excellent cast), but it buckled under the weight of its spurious cleverness. And also, is it really 'shitting' on something when you are analyzing it critically?

It's unlikely ayrt actually watched the video. My guess is they're one of those people who interpret any criticism of a thing as "hate", and then go around ranting about all the people who exhibit "hate" by not loving that thing.

It's AYRT who isn't at all obsessed, unlike those H8rs. Surrrre.

Several of the points he makes there are pretty much "this is bad because I didn't like it" or "this is bad because it's too on the nose for my taste", though.

I feel like that guy (and a lot of viewers) missed the point of the series. Sherlock does not try to use logical deductions. There are contrived plot devices everywhere but they are intentionally contrived plot devices. Sherlock was never a smart show, it was a show that tried to look smart and after the first seasons embraced its campiness silliness and absurdity. Brainless entertainment.

So yeah, trying to analyze it as something that is not is pretty ridiculous. It's like going to a magic sow and try to be the smartass by pointing out that it's just a trick. No shit Sherlock.

Huh, I never got the feeling it was embracing campy silliness. To me it always seemed so smug and totally unaware of its own nonsensicalness, at least in regards to Sherlock's reasoning abilities.

Sherlock solves problems via magic. They tell us he solved the mystery but don't actually describe the clues most of the time. It's a "trust us, he solved it. turn your brain off and don't think about it" situation. The majority of the time he doesn't really solve the mystery with any clues that lead to any logical conclusion. He just takes random guesses and they arrest the criminal at the end.

Yup, it's a bad show, got it. They weren't intentionally going for that.

No, sorry, that sounds like bullshit you have to tell yourself afterward to justify spending so much time invested in the show. It sounds like M. Night Shyamalan trying to justify the badness of The Happening by saying that it was never a horror film, it was always meant to be a silly B movie, except oops apparently he never bothered to communicate that intention to the people actually acting in the film so even they were pissed about the end product. That's the level of sad ass-covering we're operating with here.

Sorry to disappoint you, but I don't need any excuses because I'm perfectly okay with watching dumb shows or even children cartoons as long as they entertain me, and Sherlock never bored me. I watch a lot of stuff that has the "good taste seal of approval" so I don't think there's anything wrong with watching some "fast food" media too. Astonishing, I know. But you can continue projecting if that makes you happy.

Have you ever tried to make a YouTube video? It takes a lot of time. A lot. Wasting so many hours just to shit on something you dislike is not something most people are willing to do.

if you're trying not to sound butthurt, calling anyone who makes a video critical of something "wasting so many hours to shit on something" is not it.

At this point there's nothing I can ever say that will dissuade you and I'm not going to spend my whole afternoon on FS replying to your posts on this thread, so yes, I'm butthurt, I'm so butthurt I'm past the point of prolapse. You won the argument, have a nice day.

I mean, YouTubers get views, followers and possibly ad revenue for their effort, so I can see incentives to pick apart something popular beyond mere hate. Especially when the person has an entire channel basically built around this concept.
