Re: Pokemon Go Update

I wondered about a possible cheater sweep, too?! Gyms in my area were constantly held by super high level Pokemon, and the second I defeated a gym, a rival Pokemon would like instantly be popped in. It's possible someone was hiding out somewhere waiting to snipe it, but... Worst part is, most of the gyms with ultra high Pokemon were on my same team, so I couldn't even defeat them. It was hard to get my Pokemon in a gym, let alone hold one for more than a few hours. But now all the gyms are constantly changing Pokemon and no one is too high. Maybe has to do with the different setup of just being able to plop in Pokemon, but there are a lot of low-to-mid-range Pokemon holding gyms, which is kind of fun. No longer gyms consisting entirely of Dragonite and Gyarados.

Overall, I think I like all the changes a lot. I don't mind the 50 coin cap, because I was never able to hold gyms long enough to get more than ten, MAYBE 20 coins a day if I was super lucky. (And for the record, I'm level 30 and have several Pokemon in the high 2000s) I also live in a big city, so the gym traffic/turnover is probably higher than in some areas. Anyway, now if my Pokemon holds a gym for a few hours, I get loads of coins back. It's fantastic! And evidently, Pokemon get kicked out after a few days on their own unless you constantly feed them berries, which I think is way better than letting Pokemon rot there forever.

But yeah, gym battles are a bit buggy. I like the raids, but the visuals aren't great, it's hard to tell what's a normal gym and what's a boss Pokemon gym, and I'm not quite sure if I just don't understand the new visuals or what. For example, not all the boss Pokemon have monster icons above them, so they look just like normal gyms. And if the gym is "tall" or not, can't tell if that makes a difference. I conquered a rival gym that had an egg, and the gym didn't change to my team's color even though I put my Pokemon there.

But I did fight my first boss Pokemon on my own! Defeated it with like one second to spare, literally. Finally got Alakazam, which completes my Gen 1 Pokedex minus the legendaries and region-restricted Pokemon. Whoo-hoo!

For me, the cap is more that I was all excited. It's relatively easy to go nab the two nearby gyms late at night now, but after 5 hours I feel like they're wasting slots.

I have seen some theme gyms which is pretty cool. The nearby one was all flying pokemon today, and I've seen screencaps of 'nursery' gyms with people showing off their baby pokemon.
