That's how I felt about Ender's Game - classic example, obviously. For me, I just ended up not going to see it (also because I heard it was kinda meh, but that's besides the point). The other one is the Mists of Avalon, and I loved that book as a kid. I already own it, so I figure I might as well enjoy it, and anyway the author is literally dead now so can't financially support her.

But honestly, I also feel like unless they are totally irredeemable as people, there's gotta be that point where you can just respect that some people have a few shitty opinions and still acknowledge that they create good things, and generally, they deserve to be paid for their creations like anyone else.

I totally agree with that last paragraph... logically. Trouble is emotionally, I just can't get back the enthusiasm I had for this film because it's not just that I disagree with the creator, but that they created this work to speak directly to the points I don't agree with. It really bums me out. I was getting mself so hyped for this movie.
