That is a great fucking screenshot. Just sayin'.

Also, I think a lot of this is related to the extreme preference of femslash fandom for canon relationships over non-canon, which is a very distinctive characteristic of f/f fandom compared to m/m fandom. I'm not saying it's just as simple as that but i think it's related.

And then the other demographic point - which I think is probably related to both of those things - is that really, at the end of the day, most people in femslash fandom - especially, like, Western online fanfiction Tumblr femslash fandom - are queer women. Not nearly as many people in Western online fanfiction Tumblr slash fandom are queer men. There's nothing wrong with that on either side, obviously, but I think it does have a huge influence on what kinds of stories the average fan on each side wants.

Also I don't think you would go entirely wrong if you said that a certain amount of femslash fanfiction is basically the written equivalent of Youtube Lesbian Couples
