In the original Cyrano de Bergerac, Cyrano kills a man in a duel. I saw a movie version where Cyrano wins without killing him, then kills him when he tries to attack from behind after the duel is already over. I thought that helped make Cyrano a lot more sympathetic.

Is that the French one with Depardieu, the black and white English one, or another one I don't know about? (Been awhile since I saw either.) Also, speaking of Cyrano adaptations, Roxanne is cute.

I remember the subtitles had rhymes in them, so it seems to be the French one judging from the Wikipedia entry.
