At this point, I think one of the things that tumblr shares with twitter is that you can find any opinion, no matter how marginal or foolish, openly expressed.

On the other hand, I do sorta see the point of this post given how a bugfuck crazy and stupid, but very vocal part of the fandom gets crazy obsessive and possessive over favorite characters. So I read the post as about that and not about fans like me who are going to see it because, hey, afrofuturism is cool. (And if a fucking Disney film can be a gateway drug to Okorafor and Delany, so much the better.)

I mean, they're probably not actually monetizing it. I'm sure they're trying very hard to monetize it, and wish they could monetize it successfully, and they probably have a lot of KPIs and internal goals around it, but I think it's really hard to actually monetize.
