We don't get them at the door here except for the occasional local person doing lawnmowing. Just phone calls. Lots of phone calls. The No-call list is pretty useless.

The no-call list has cut way back on soliciting calls for me. Now I only get them from crooks and scammers, who are gonna crook and scam and break the law anyway. It's always fun to say "Why would I do business with someone who's breaking a federal law by calling me?" and listen to them sputter.

We try, but so many of them are robo calls with no actual person on the line. Maybe they are all scammers, but we get multiple calls every day. It is getting very old.

I have heard (and I have no idea if it's true) that if you pick up the phone but don't say anything, their software records that as a non-working number and deletes it from their system.

I really hate the credit card one. "This is your final opportunity!" "Promise?" "LOL no," as they call back the next day.

The solar people appear to have given up, at least for now, so that's something. I was getting those daily for awhile, always from a different local spoofed number.

The really fun ones are the Microsoft Windows scammers. I've been known to string one of those guys along for twenty minutes. It's hilarious when they either try to convince you that they're not scamming, or they start in with the really gross sexual stuff. "Yeah, real professional there, dude. You kiss your mother with that mouth?"

I was confused by the sudden sexual stuff when I remembered that you are probably a girl and my mental image of an aggressively gay tele-scammer was probably incorrect

It is true that if you don't reply, an automated phone call will just hang up. If it's a human being on the other end of the line, they'll go "...Hello?" when they don't hear anything.

When i was doing phone calls for a living (no sales!), we had a lot of 'no mo robo'. Basically, the phone would ring and then pick up, and a recording would said 'this number is protected by no mo robo. if you're not a robot, please dial ' and then give a random number. You dial, it would connect and ring through. If you didn't, it would hang up on you.

Dunno if it costs or if it's free, but you might try that.
